  • Day 1 : Arrival at Imphal Airport, Manipur (from Delhi, Kolkata or Guwahati). First sightseeing. Overnight stay in a hotel.
  • Day 2 : Day trip to Loktak Lake National Park and temple visit. Overnight stay at the hotel.
  • Day 3 : Day trip to the surrounding area with a visit to a tribal village, sightseeing. Overnight stay in a hotel.
  • Day 4 : Onward journey to Kohima, Nagaland. Sightseeing on the way. Overnight stay in a hotel.
  • Day 5 : Day trip to a tribal village, sightseeing. Overnight stay in a hotel.
  • Day 6 : Onward journey to Phesachodu, en route visit to tribal villages of the Chakesang-Nagas. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.
  • Day 7 : Visit more tribal villages. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.
  • Day 8 : Onward journey to Tuophema in the land of the Angami Nagas, sightseeing en route. The evening is at leisure. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.
  • Day 9 : Travel on to Mokokchung, into the land of the Ao-Nagas; through tribal areas of Rengma, Lotha and Sumi. Overnight stay in a hotel
  • Day 10: Onward journey to Jorhat, Assam. First sightseeing. Overnight stay in a traditional hotel.
  • Day 11: Day trip to Majuli, the world’s largest river island, sightseeing. Overnight stay in a hotel.
  • Day 12: Sightseeing in Jorhat, tea garden day. Overnight stay in a hotel.
  • Day 13: Onward journey to Mon, Nagaland. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.
  • Day 14: Day trip to an aboriginal village. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.
  • Day 15: Day trip to a tribal village. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.
  • Day 16: Onward journey to Dibrugarh, Assam. Sightseeing on the way. Overnight stay in a hotel.
  • Day 17: Day trip to a tribal village, sightseeing. Overnight stay in the hotel.
  • Day 18: Onward journey to Kaziranga National Park, jeep safari. Overnight stay at the lodge.
  • Day 19: Elephant and jeep safari. Overnight stay in a lodge.
  • Day 20: Transfer to Guwahati airport, onward journey via Delhi or Kolkata.

Best time to travel

Ideal from November to April, at best also October to May. From June to September there is a stormy monsoon, so this time is generally not suitable for tours to this region. In addition, the Kaziranga National Park is then closed due to flooding by the Brahmaputra river

Additional options

  • Include a river cruise lasting several days in the air-conditioned cabin of a small cruise ship. You will be spoiled with culinary delights from the kitchen crew, sail past banks covered in lush green vegetation, through gently rolling hills and past sandbanks and wild natural landscapes. With a bit of luck, you may even catch a glimpse of the white-crowned Himalayan giants in the distance. (+3 – 10 days)
  • Visit remote, small settlements and the rarely visited Orang National Park
